10 ways to decorate a small space

Decorating small spaces can be a stressful thing to do for most people who are busy in their careers and have different priorities in life. However, you live in a place where you find no hope for improvement or for feeling every day like crap. Whether you are living in a rental condominium or simply in your own place there are 10 ways you can improve the look of your place to feel better and more comfortable.

Add a Carpet or Rug

I’m a bit particular in the flooring material but having this done from one milestone to another won’t be good for my wallet especially when you are living in a rented space or an old house that you have been living for most of your life and can’t do anything with it. Make use of a carpet or rug, an inexpensive material that you can add and change from time to time from one theme to the other. I use the rug for bedrooms so when my feet touch the floor I feel warm and it is ticklish for me.

Clear your walkway

Having a clear walkway from where I am staying, I make sure that I don’t have any obstructions that would affect my daily habits and gradual task. I keep an open space as such as possible and maximize the dead space and storage space to maximize the use of my place.

Have a lot of Storage

Make use of functional storage pieces as this will help you store items easier and having a storage piece must also accommodate your micro storage such as the use of a Plastic Box or Organizational Box to keep particular items at a certain place and label it accordingly.  I use mega boxes that are labeled according to my preferences such as Office Supply, Travel Box, and Beauty Stuff are just a few it helps me locate the things when I need to locate it and it also helps me identify which box I am looking for. These boxes are all similar in size and placed in one functional multi-layered storage.

Stackable Items

Living in an apartment has helped me identify items which suit bests especially when we purchase new furniture for a certain reason. One example is my dining table, its a 4 seater with wood chairs and since almost every month we have a guest, we purchased a number of stackable tables and chairs that can be used whenever we have guests or celebrate a milestone. This stackable table and chairs can be brought outside without sacrificing our space and the look of our decorations.

Mirrors

Having mirrors can make the space bigger and wider, I make use of a tall mirror and width proportion to its measurement. This makes my space bigger and wider. The mirror reflects the things right in front of it and the lights make it twice the wattage.

Lights

Make use of different lighting use, it will make your place look better because of the different light texture. To save you from spending a lot, use a Tri-color light LED, a tricolor light has three variants of light color such as Day Light, Cool White and Warm White you just have to select which light works best for you on a specific time.

Floating items

To add a personalized touch or designated nook for your collection or special items, make use of a floating shelf to make them. This keeps your area looking bigger and fresh.

Add plants

Succulents are very popular and easy to maintain. Aside grom succulents there are different plants to choose from to bring it inside your place. It helps to purify the air and also improves your mood.

White Color Scheme

It doesn’t have to be pure white but rather around the shades of white. I often recommend white for most of my projects. However, I give my clients an option to choose a variety of colors of the lightest shade of their preferred color which is considered as part of the shades of white. If they choose brown, then I give to let them choose a shade that is closest to white to make the space wider and bigger.

To make space stand out I would let my client choose a contrasting color that they find attractive or I think is attractive this gives their space a boost on not to look “dull” or “boring” as people would refer. Adding a touch of color will not only add color to your place but it will help you enhance the space and feel more connected to it.
